Two Iran films to vie in Bulgaria

The 25th edition of the International Film Festival Love Is Folly has been hosting two Iranian films in Bulgaria.

‘Melancholia’ by Morteza Atashzamzam and Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning drama ‘The Salesman’ have been scheduled to be screened at the festival on September 2, 2017.

‘Melancholia’ is about people with bipolar disorder who are not self aware of their medical condition.

Among cast members are Leila Otadi, Hamid-Reza Hedayati, Laleh Eskandari and Nader Fallah.

‘The Salesman’ tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.

Starring Taraneh Alidoosti and Shahab Hosseini, The movie won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards in the best foreign language film category and also won double awards for best screenplay and best actor at the Cannes Film Festival, 2017.

Launched in 1993, Love Is Folly Film Festival is a competitive event that features selected films produced during the last two years dealing with the subject of love.

Starting on August 25, the event is set to run until September 3, 2017 in Varna, Bulgaria.
